Petite Fashion Challenge #14: Holiday Emergency

I’ve included late additions, please let me know if there’s any more – sorry for the delays (time differences)!

Holiday Emergency
You have a pre-booked dinner date on the first day of your holiday. But the emergency is your luggage is delayed. So this month’s challenge is to style your travel outfit into a special evening look using whatever you carry in your purse and anything else immediately at hand (ie no running out to buy a new outfit!).

Jacket: dark navy knit H&M, Dress: ASOS, Necklace: vintage beaded, Belt: Hermes, Shoes: PPS, Bag: Hermes Lindy

Necklace: vintage costume jet beads, Wrap: Monsoon, Cuff: Hermes, Clutch: vintage Genny, Shoes: Lara Bohinc

I always carry my jewellery with me when I travel, so I just change necklaces to a sparkly jet string and reverse my Hermes belt to match the cuff (you can’t see but there is orange in the print of the dress). My clutch doubles up as a travel wallet so it’s always in my hand luggage or handbag. I usually carry a pashmina and a silk scarf so it was easy to throw this on. My tights are ditched and I change into these sandals to complete my evening look. I got into the habit of packing at least one spare pair of shoes with me from when I used to travel a lot and sometimes couldn’t unpack my luggage immediately so relied on essentials in my carry on bag – including toiletries (pre 9/11).

Great article! I too travel with my jewelry, a spare pair of shoes and some type of layering going on. Usually tights or leggings with a dress or long shirt and either a big sweater or cardigan (it gets cold on planes). I always have a massive handbag, so will have to take your lead and start keeping a little clutch inside…for those “just in case” moments!

Thanks for your comment and support – I shy away from layering and it’s one of the things I need to work on and improve. The clutch really helps to keep things tidy in a bigger bag if nothing else.

Thanks so much! I’ve been trying hard to improve on the accessorising as it’s one of my fail areas 😉
No problem, you’re on now – thanks for your support!

This actually happened to me. My son and I met my spouse in a holiday destination. My spouse had his luggage. My luggage was delayed 24 hours. Fortunately, I was wearing black skinny pants and had my jewelry and high heeled sandals in my carry on bag. I borrowed one of my spouse’s fitted black tees, added some jewelery and the black high heeled sandals and I was good to go.
