Colour and Pattern

I used to be so afraid of colour and pattern that I avoided them entirely – what a waste! With age comes a certain confidence (if nothing else …) and I ventured in both colour and pattern starting with those that I always liked such as blues, yellows and pinks to lift my beloved neutrals of navy, tans and whites. Now I find myself mixing everything and loving it. These two scarves were bought separately a long time apart and only recently did I see how the colours are echoed in both – the magic of Hermès! The Scarf

imag5818An important element in my wardrobe is my scarf collection. I’ve always loved scarves and used to wear them since I was a young teen. The Hermès 90cm above is a very useful colourway for me. I’ve had so many compliments from a range of different age groups of women including a little lady of 4 yrs old! Although the green is khaki, I love it with navy such is the magic of Hermès colours. I’ve been wearing my trusted brown brogues all Winter when I’m not in boots. They kind of balance out the femininity of the scarf. This is typical of how I wear a scarf – slung on! Honestly I don’t feel the need to try out lovely knots, folds and pleats.

Purple Reign

PURPLESKIRT We can’t help but be affected by the death of Prince and so many other notable celebrities lately. I went to see in concert in Wembley in the early 90’s and still remember exactly what a I wore: black organdi tee, Vivienne Westwood hotpants, Woldford dark grey shimmer opaque tights and black suede ankle strap sandals by Charles Jourdan. We were quite close to the stage and had a great view. I am enjoying my own Purple Phase even more in his memory.

Maybe it was bound to happen, there is a limit to the amount of neutrals one can wear and even though I thought I had a ‘neutral’ wardrobe, colour and print live there too.
