Closet Audit : Shopping List A/W 2015-6

I feel really drawn to deep blues, greys, greens and olive this season. The Trim is Olive Barenia leather but looks brown here.

I feel really drawn to deep blues, greys, greens and olive this season. The Trim is a Navy Epsom with grey undertones and the Evelyne is Olive Barenia leather but looks brown here.

I decided to do away with Wishlists some time ago and make actual Shopping lists twice a year instead. The wishlists encouraged me to add more stuff until they became endless whereas the Shopping list helped me target and focus on what I actually need – mostly replacements or an upgrade to a better quality and this has been the case for this season when I realised my coats needed updating. My vintage treasures are safe – they’re still going strong but it’s a couple of others that had to be retired. Continue reading

Closet Audit 2015: the Hermès Kelly Part 2

KBRIQUERIVEFLEUVEFollowing on from Part 1 here.

I must point out that I’m a long time vintage fan, of clothes, accessories and furniture so it was completely natural for me to seek out vintage Kelly’s at the start. All the things that attract me to vintage clothes etc.. apply to a vintage Kelly. I believe the materials and craftsmanship are superior to the modern versions and I prefer the unique look they have. My newest Kelly is from 2010, my oldest from 1968. Continue reading

Cashmere Layers

THALAJEANS Linking to Patti’s blog Not Dead Yet Style for Visible Monday #142

It’s cold and time to layer up! H Thalassa cashmere/silk mix shawl also here, H&M Men camel jumper, Mango cashmere cardi, Gap 1969 bf jeans, vintage M&S belt and vintage Kelly. I long dismissed the shawl for 2 reasons: I thought the size would overwhelm my frame and what is the point of having a cashmere mix with silk? Needless to say I was terribly wrong on both counts. Let’s talk about: Classic Items every woman should have Part V/8 The Cashmere Cardigan

This continues the series inspired by the article 8 essential items every woman should have:

5. The Cashmere Cardigan

Essential item for Spring and cool Summer nights. Cashmere gives a lot more warmth than the same thickness in wool so ideal for layering in the Winter and travelling. It’s also incredibly soft. Once it really was a luxe item but nowadays, some are even machine washable. The cardigan is incredibly versatile and I wear my favourite little grey one with everything from cocktail dresses to jeans. Look out for twin sets for wearing with pearls for a traditional look or separately.

Let’s talk about: Classic Items every woman should have Part IV/8 The White Shirt or Blouse

This continues the series inspired by the article 8 essential items every woman should have:

4. The White Shirt – I’m adding or The White Blouse. I’ve always found a blouse to be more comfortable than a shirt but maybe that’s just me. I’ve seen so many women look amazing in a white shirt especially if they have a womanly figure because the shirt simply emphasises this. So needless to say it can be very versatile and because of its inherant tailored shape, looks instantly dressy with no effort at all.

The blouse to its credit is a softer and more feminine version and can be just as versatile. They add a pretty contrast to tailored pieces and be a quick cover up over vest tops, therefore good for layering and are perfect with jeans for a dressier look than a tee.

This continues the series inspired by the article about 8 essential items every woman should have:

3. The Perfect Trousers – I stick to the tailored straight leg style. In the colder months I live in these and jeans; for the Summer, capris and linen wide leg. There’s nothing more chic than a pair of cigarette pants for the evenings with heels but nowadays it’s a question of what’s most flattering to your body shape. If you still haven’t found yours, simply try on as many different ones as you have the time and patience for and you will surely succeed.
