I used to be so afraid of colour and pattern that I avoided them entirely – what a waste! With age comes a certain confidence (if nothing else …) and I ventured in both colour and pattern starting with those that I always liked such as blues, yellows and pinks to lift my beloved neutrals of navy, tans and whites. Now I find myself mixing everything and loving it. These two scarves were bought separately a long time apart and only recently did I see how the colours are echoed in both – the magic of Hermès! An important element in my wardrobe is my scarf collection. I’ve always loved scarves and used to wear them since I was a young teen. The Hermès 90cm above is a very useful colourway for me. I’ve had so many compliments from a range of different age groups of women including a little lady of 4 yrs old! Although the green is khaki, I love it with navy such is the magic of Hermès colours. I’ve been wearing my trusted brown brogues all Winter when I’m not in boots. They kind of balance out the femininity of the scarf. This is typical of how I wear a scarf – slung on! Honestly I don’t feel the need to try out lovely knots, folds and pleats.

Over the years I’ve become slightly obssessed with the size and weight of my bags. As well as being aware of the overall size, the intrinsic weight of the bag must be under a certain amount and that is 1kg. The quality of Hermès, Chanel and Céline bags I own usually means they rarely exceed this threshold but some of the heavier leathers by Hermès do or come too close for my comfort. Aside from hobbling about on too high heels or ill fitting shoes – quelle horreur – schlepping around what looks like your whole life and the kitchen sink isn’t the best look. Continue reading
