I naturally gravitate towards light colours and like to wear them all the year round. I re-discovered this gorgeous shawl when digging around my stuff looking for something to use as part of a Roman costume for my youngest. The shawl is a fine wool and was given to me by a friend from India some years ago. I never wore it properly because to be honest, I’ve never been a shawl, poncho or cape wearer. Well, better late than never seems to be my fashion motto this past year so here it is! Continue reading
I wear a lot of greys and knew to add brights to liven it up but rich colours also work for me like this Hermès Drag bag in their signature Rouge H colour. It was a very casual weekend cooking a full Sunday roast for lunch for the family and such a beautiful day I took her out for the first time. Continue reading
Linking to Patti’s Not Dead Yet Style for Visible Monday
In case you missed it, Jill and Adrienne feature a ‘How I Wear My…’ series on their respective blogs Everything Just So and The Rich Life (on a budget), this month was ‘Casual Party Outfit‘. Normally I pick a dress, add some heels, lipstick, a girly bag and go. Ditto for a casual dinner date, cinema date …but for a party, I wanted to diversify and try something new, slightly different – for me – for a change. Enter the sequin skirt! I’ve wanted one for ages and picked this blue one (and in black) by TFNC for very little over a year ago from ASOS. It’s stretchy and I thought to shorten it but changed my mind. Continue reading
In honour of the new little Prince of Cambridge, here’s my blue lace dress!
Due to the ongoing fine weather we’re treated to in UK, I’ve had to unpack my emergency supply of Summer dresses! I love, love, lace and other similar textures. This is by Zara from the sale last year and I was only expecting to wear it away on holiday. It’s pretty good quality. For Zara. For a Summer dress. I don’t know about you but I find Summer clothes to be generally poorer quality than those in Winter. I’ve seen tees and other tops that are so thin, they’re virtually transparent when I know they’re not supposed to be! Continue reading
A little cotton mix Jaeger dress from a few years ago gets a tiny adjustment, I let the hem down by a few cms as I always felt it was too short for me. I’m wearing it with the Céline ‘nude’ flap bag and Sam Edelman’s Trina sandals. These sandals took me a full year to track down in my size and the colour I wanted but they’re worth it – comfy straight out of the box. It’s still one of the best styles around! My other brown Same Edelman pair from last year have been passed on to my Tween girl who reached the milestone of fitting my shoes…..uh oh!

During the middle of my Closet Audit, I was begining to wonder how and if my neutrals were going to change as time went on. I’ve always loved greys, whites, beiges and navy but somehow never found the right pieces to love as much as the ones I have now built up. It was only fairly recently that I had the confidence to re-embrace colour, mostly red and orange, to add to the mix. Most often it’s the subtle neutrals that carry me through the day.
